Zenith Bank Clinches Africa’s Best Bank, Nigeria’s Top Banking Award

Zenith Bank Plc has been named Africa’s Best Bank and Nigeria’s Best Bank at the 2026 Euromoney Awards for Excellence, retaining its position as the country’s top bank for the second consecutive year.The bank disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Lagos.

It said the awards were presented at a ceremony held on July 16 in London, recognising the bank’s strong financial performance, customer service, digital innovation and contribution to economic development.

Speaking on the recognition, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank, Mrs Adaora Umeoji, described the awards as a reflection of customers’ trust and the dedication of the bank’s workforce.

Umeoji said the recognition would spur the bank to deepen financial inclusion, support businesses across Africa and continue delivering value to customers and shareholders.

She also commended regulators in the countries where the bank operates for providing an enabling business environment and dedicated the awards to the bank’s founder and Chairman, Mr Jim Ovia, for his visionary leadership.

According to the bank, its audited results for the 2025 financial year showed gross earnings of N4.19 trillion and profit after tax of N1.04 trillion, while its non-performing loan ratio declined to 3.8 per cent from 4.7 per cent.

It added that shareholders received a record dividend of N10 per share for the 2025 financial year, amounting to N410.69 billion, as the bank continued to expand its pan-African operations and strengthen its digital banking capabilities.

The bank said the latest honours add to its growing list of local and international recognitions, reinforcing its position as one of Africa’s leading financial institutions.
