Jigawa Govt. Approves N1.6bn For Dry Season Agriculture Programme

Date:

The Jigawa Executive Council has approved N1.6 billion for the implementation of the Dry Season Workers’ Agricultural Support Programme 2026.

The programme is strategically designed to support workers with agricultural essential inputs, irrigation support, mechanization services, and extension services to ensure optimal productivity during the dry season.

The state Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa, made this known while briefing newsmen after council meeting on Tuesday in Dutse.

The aim of the programme, he said, is to ensure optimal productivity during the dry season and the initiative is expected to boost crop yield, stabilize food supply, and reduce post-harvest losses across the State.

“The state government remains committed to policies and programmes that promote economic growth, food sufficiency, and inclusive development for all citizens,” Musa said.

He further explained council also approved the purchase of 86 Housing Units From Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development at a total cost of N853,138,929.56.

The acquisition of the housing units according to the commissioner, is to address the accommodation needs within the state, particularly for public servants and other beneficiaries.

“The initiative aligns with the Namadi administration’s 12 Points agenda, to provide housing and urban development strategy, designed to promote decent shelter, reduce housing deficits and enhance living standards.

“The sole aim is for the administration to expand access to affordable housing and improve the welfare of citizens, Musa said. (NAN).
