The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), winner of the Anambra State Governorship Election held on Saturday, November 8, 2025.

In a resounding victory, Soludo won in all the 21 local government areas of the state.

Soludo, the incumbent governor of the state, secured 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival, Mr. Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 99,445 votes. Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) finished third with 37,753 votes.

Announcing the results at INEC’s headquarters in Awka on Sunday, the Returning Officer, Edoba Omoregie, said Soludo met all constitutional requirements, scoring the highest number of valid votes cast.

“Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes cast, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” Omoregie declared.

According to INEC, 16 candidates from various political parties contested the governorship poll. The state recorded 2,788,864 registered voters, out of which 598,229 were accredited to vote.

A total of 595,298 votes were cast, with 584,054 valid votes and 11,244 rejected ballots.

Despite minor disruptions that led to cancellations in some polling units across Anambra West, Anaocha, Awka South, and Onitsha South local government areas which affected about 10,481 votes, INEC confirmed that the margin of Soludo’s victory rendered the cancellations inconsequential to the overall result.

Returning Officer Omoregie described the exercise as “largely peaceful,” commending security agencies and electoral officials for maintaining order throughout the process.

He said, “despite isolated incidents in a few wards, the election proceeded smoothly, and the will of the people of Anambra State has clearly been expressed.”
