WAEC Resolves Technical Issue Affecting 2025 WASSCE Results

Date:

Updated WASSCE 2025 results to be available within the next 24 hours

The Federal Ministry of Education has said that the West African Examination Council (WAEC) has resolved the technical issue affecting the 2025 West African School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.

The ministry stated this in a press release issued today in Abuja and signed by Boriowo Folasade, Director (Press and Public Relations). The ministry assured that the updated results will be accessible via the result checker portal within the next 24 hours.

The ministry explained that the technical issue arose during post-release processing, particularly in subjects where paper serialisation had been introduced as part of WAEC’s examination security measures. It said this was promptly resolved following a full briefing of the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa.

The ministry commended WAEC for its swift response, transparency and professionalism in resolving the glitch, and appreciated the patience of the affected candidates and assured the public of its continued pursuit of fairness and credibility in assessment processes.

The ministry added that the timely resolution of the glitch has reinforced the Minister of Education’s broader education reform agenda, which prioritises examination integrity across all bodies under the ministry’s supervision, particularly WAEC and the National Examination Council (NECO). “In line with is”, the ministry said, “both bodies are set to commence a phased rollout of Computer-Based Testing (CBT), beginning with objective components in 2026”.

According to the ministry, CBT represents a critical step toward curbing malpractice, preventing question leakages, and restoring public trust in the examination system, adding that it is a necessary reform to ensure Nigerian students are assessed strictly on merit and that their certificates retain credibility both locally and internationally.
