The Director of Socioeconomic Rights and Accountability Project, a Lagos-based non-governmental organisation, Mr Adetokunbo Mumuni, has declared that Nigeria has no business at all with poverty.
He made this declaration at a town-hall meeting to promote citizens’ participation in the fight against corruption in the judiciary, education and electricity sectors in Nigeria, held at Ikeja Airport Hotel, Lagos.
Mumuni said Nigerians must not be tired of discussing corruption because it is the big elephant in the room, even though we don’t know precisely where the elephant lives in the room.Â
He said we have no business with poverty in Nigeria because of the enormous wealth with which the country is endowed.Â
But due to “pilfering of the Nigeria’s commonwealth by those entrusted with the responsibility of leading us there has been predominance or prevalence of corruption in the Nigerian environment”.Â
