NBA Ikeja Branch Holds Law Week

The Ikeja Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, the firebrand Tiger Branch, will commence its annual Law Week from June 9 to June 16, 2023.
This was disclosed at a Press Conference held at the Bar Centre of the Branch today.
The Chairman of the Branch, Mr. Oluwaseyi Olawunmi Esq, made the disclosure while addressing members of Press and the Branch who had gathered for the Conference.
The theme of this year Law Week is “The Nigerian Lawyer, Earning Wealth and Keeping Fit in the Challenging Times”.
The break-down of the week-long event was made by Mr. Tunde Adejuyigbe, SAN.
The formal opening ceremony will take place on Friday, June 9, 2023, at 10 am. This would be followed by a session devoted to The Nigerian Young Lawyers, Prospects and Challenges at 12 noon. The session would be addressed by Mr. Olumide Akpata, the immediate past President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mrs. Tokunbo Osinowo and Mr. Wemimo Ogunde, SAN. The venue of this event would be at the Bar Centre.
The session would be followed immediately by Jumat Prayers at 2.pm while the day would close with a Welcome Cocktail Part generously sponsored by Pinheiro LP at 6pm.
Saturday June 10, 2023, would start with aerobics for members of the Branch at 7.30am to be followed by Ikeja Branch Female Football Team Match versus Ikorodu Branch at 9.00am at the Police College, Ikeja.
There would be a Tug of War Game at 10am while the Branch’s Male Football Team Match versus the Lagos Branch would take place at 4pm at the Police College, Ikeja.
On Sunday, June 10, 2023, there would be Thanksgiving Service to be held at the Bar Centre.
On Monday, June 12, 2023, there would be a Juvenile Home Visitation from 9am with the take-off from the Bar Centre, Ikeja.
At 10am, another intellectual session will take place themed “Female Lawyers in Legal Practice: Overcoming the Barriers of Gender Bias and Stereotypes”. The session would be addressed by Mrs. Funke Adekoya, SAN, Mrs. Titilola Akinlawon, SAN, and Ms. Titilayo Shitta-Bey. The venue is at the Bar Centre of the Branch.
At 2pm, there would be another session themed “Growing your Clientele and Proper Billing for Legal Services” and “Financial Planning for Lawyers”. The session would be addressed by Dr Babatunde Ajibade, SAN, Dr Ihuoma Ilonbinso, Chukwudi Enebeli Esq and Mr. Kola Ayeye. The venue is at the Bar Centre.
Wednesday June 14, 2023, would kick off at 10am with Legal Clinic in collaboration with the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency. The clinic awareness campaign would take place at strategic locations at Ikeja, Ojota and Ogba.
A Variety Night would take place at the Bar Centre at 6pm.
Thursday June 15, 2023, would kick off at 9am with the Alao Aka-Basorun Annual Lecture themed GO TO COURT: Is there a remedy for the Nigeria’s ailing justice system? A panel of three eminent lawyers would speak directly to the theme: Professor Chidi Odinkalu, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, SAN and Mr. Jiti Ogunye Esq. The venue is at the Bar Centre.
The day would close with a session on Wellness Agenda: The Physical and Mental Health of the Nigerian Lawyers – What you must know and do. The session would be addressed by Rev. Tony Akinyemi and Usman Imamah. This session would be hybrid. The time is 2pm.
Friday, June 16, 2023, would be the climax of the Law Week with Law Dinner to be held at 4pm at The Citadel, Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun.
