TomTom Unveils Mani Lapush, Winner of ‘Breathe For It’ Challenge

TomTom, a popular candy which is manufactured by Cadbury Nigeria Plc, has announced fast rising music act, Mani Lapush, as the winner of its ‘Breathe for it 1.0’ Verse Challenge. Mani goes home with a cash prize of N1,000,000 and an ambassadorship deal. The Verse Challenge, which was the first of its kind for the candy, and part of the brand’s equity building campaign, saw over 500 entries from music-loving young Nigerians.

Speaking about TomTom’s discovery of Mani, Mrs. Oyeyimika Adeboye, Managing Director, Cadbury Nigeria, said: “As the leading candy brand in Nigeria, TomTom has taken up the challenge of helping the younger generation, or as we love to call them, ‘Gen Z,’ build capacity in key passion point areas, one of which is music.

“The official signing ceremony of ‘Mani Lapush’ today, as a music ambassador of the brand, is part of our commitment to developing the Nigerian economy, particularly the creative industry. The ‘Breathe for It’ campaign, which already has on board, music super star, Rema as its key brand ambassador, is in line with the brand’s mission of helping its consumers breathe better for their dreams, goals, and whatever drives them, to make a positive impact on society.

In her remarks, Morolake Emokpaire, the Category Manager, Gum and Candy, said: “Nigeria’s music industry is brimming with refreshing talent and so far, the ‘Breathe for It Verse Challenge,’ which led to the discovery of Mani Lapush, has been an exciting one. The journey began with the signing of our super star act, Rema, who we saw as key to the Nigerian Gen Z success story, through music, and with him on board, our equity building campaign was launched last June.

“The key pillars of the ‘Breathe for It’ campaign are to discover, nurture and showcase talent. The primary offshoot of this was the Verse Challenge’. Mani Lapush is a true testimony of the versatility and capacity of the Nigerian youth, and he is now on a journey with the brand as this doesn’t end here with the cash prize.

“As our winning act, he would record a ‘Breathe for It’ anthem song with Rema, together with some other music projects for the brand. He would get coaching from mentors and he would also be a key anchor for a music project the brand is working on, which would be unveiled before the end of the year.”

More is to be expected from the Cadbury Nigeria candy portfolio, which recently launched into the market, two new exciting new variants of candy namely Cadbury Coffee and Cadbury Caramel
